MRI
With our open design, our imaging system provides greater comfort for patients who may feel anxious in traditional MRI machines. We cater to individuals who are claustrophobic, require bariatric accommodation, or have specialized imaging needs.
What is an MRI?
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive medical imaging test that produces detailed images of almost every internal structure in the human body, including organs, bones, muscles, and blood vessels. MRI scanners use a large magnet and radio waves to create images—no ionizing radiation is involved, unlike X-rays. These images provide vital information for your physician to diagnose your condition and plan your treatment.
For Your Safety
Your safety is our top priority. Here’s what you can expect during your MRI exam:
Medical History Review:
Before your exam, you’ll complete a medical history and safety screening form. A technologist will review this information with you.
Device Considerations:
Patients with certain implanted medical deices (such as pacemakers or neurostimulators) may not be eligible for MRI. Please call our office at 765-662-0100, prior to your appointment, to verify your device is MRI safe.
Body Piercings:
You may be asked to remove body piercings prior to the exam, as the magnetic field can cause metal to heat and potentially lead to skin burns.
Secure Storage:
MRI Safe Clothing: You’ll be asked to change into MRI-safe clothing to ensure your safety. Many clothing materials contain metallic fibers that could heat during the exam. A secure locker will be available for your clothing and personal belongings.
Communication:
Your exam will be performed by a technologist from an adjacent room, and you can communicate through an intercom system.
Comfortable Experience:
The exam is painless, and we strive to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
Duration:
Most exams take approximately 30-60 minutes, after which you can resume normal activities.
Relaxation Medication:
If you take medication to help you relax before your exam, please arrange for a driver to take you home for safety.
